The first photo from the new series ‘Les hommes des toits’, about the chimney sweeps (Les ramoneurs) of Paris. Who scale rooftops, risking their lives for a buck. Despite the dangers, they are all at home when on the job. Unphased by the weather, angle of the roof and risky access to it. This is Abde, a ramoneur for over 5 years, one morning at the start of this European winter. The dew hadn’t yet dryed on this roof at Place de l’Alma, overlooking the Seine and Eiffel Tower, making it extra slippery. Compared to 100 years ago there is only very few chimney sweeps left working in Paris.
