He and She: A Short Story
•
He and she knew each other in youth, but they never quite got along. No particular reason for it.
She goes on to soar skies and new lives.
He’s still trying to leave the ground.
She knows how bad the sun can burn and how thin the air can be.
He knows all too well that dirt doesn’t taste like chocolate cake.
•
As fate would have it (and it always does), he and she ran into one another again. They rekindle and surpass their old bond. He and she agree to meet at a park just to “catch up”.
•
On her journeys, she found love hard to give and take.
He never saw love as an option.
They both felt unworthy.
•
She arrives at the park a beauty bursting through the seams of gloom that surrounded her.
He fits the mold.
As he spends time with her, he notices how his actions make her react with concern. As she speaks, she unveils him layer by layer.
•
He is forced to see the pain she feels when she sees his own.
His reds and her blues.
•
He is forced to face himself to embrace her.
That’s what shows him that she’s right.
