JAWLENE is out and about in our Baby Gator Marsh here at Gatorland and she just had her first feeding‼️
This awesome little alligator was found in August 2023 near a boat ramp north of Orlando. She was photographed by a concerned resident who realized her upper jaw was missing. Although it was hard to tell who or what hurt her, it was easy to see that she was underweight and not going to survive in the wild. Even though her injury was healed, she was unable to hunt or defend herself.
Jerry Flynn, a trapper with FWC and a great friend of Gatorland caught Jawlene and brought her here to us because he knew we would do anything and everything to save her. She immediately stole our hearts ❤️❤️❤️
Our team of gator experts worked hard to create a quiet place for her to relax in her new home and began teaching her how to eat and take food from us.
We spent months nursing her back to health with regular check ups from our veterinarian and provided her with vitamins and medication to improve her health.
But we weren’t the only ones to fall in love with her. Jawlene has received love and attention from people all over the world who were amazed at how and alligator could survive with such a sever injury.
She’s a real celebrity whose story has been featured in countless articles, newspapers and television shows around the globe.
We are ecstatic to report that she is gaining weight, in great health and is able to hang out in our Baby Gator Marsh.
Jawlene is a testament to the strength and resilience of the American Alligator. She is a real American treasure, just like Dolly Parton who sings the song that was the inspiration for Jawlene’s name.
