In this week’s Wild One ‘West Hollywood’,
@mog.y_ and
@bennyzenn deliver a ‘break-up/make-up/walk-away and wake-up’ anthem from the heart completed by a beautifully twisted video-store love story.
Long time collaborators Mog.Y and Benny Zenn have reinvented themselves to showcase their musical versatility time and time again over the past few years (listen to their previous tracks like ‘B THERE (NO TWO$)’ and ‘MOONSHINE’), but their newest release ‘WEST HOLLYWOOD’ casts their music into an entirely new, very noir light. Decorated with live and loud trombone from Garnett Glaeseman, and beautiful guitar lines from Jimmy Harwood, the instrumentation in ‘WEST HOLLYWOOD’ helps to set the perfect scene for one of the pair’s most thoughtful releases to date.
The accompanying video for ‘WEST HOLLYWOOD’, co-directed by
@waltmather and
@kierenbw from
@dynamicvisualsau, depicts a very film noir hunt for a 1950’s Los Angeles killer. “I had been replaying one of my favourite games of all time, Rockstar’s L.A Noire right before we started production, so was almost at the point of obsession with the era, and this song was such a perfect fit”, explains Kieren. “Walt and I chose to keep the camera locked off for the entire video to really help resonate with that earlier style of filmmaking. We didn’t want to distract the viewer with fancy moving shots but wanted them to really engage with this world. There is actually only a single moving shot in the whole video”.
