‘Heart’
In 1998, Gazans exported 80 million flowers to the rest of the world. Over the years due to the occupation, bulldozing and bombing to most of these farms, those number have been crippled drastically. Flowers are symbols of resilience, beauty and defiance. This particular Hibiscus flower I photographed was growing on the Island of St. Lucia. I took it on the day of their 79th year celebrating independence from British Colonial rule. It serves as a beacon for resilience in the face of oppression.
