Matt Berry ‘Heard Noises’ (out 24 January) - limited edition 8-Track cartridge. The 8-Track is one of the Hi-Fi era’s most intriguing formats. Equally at home on a massive 18 -wheeler rig riding through the wastelands of Texas, or in the dashboard of an open-top Fiat Spider driving down the California Coastal Highway to a weekend in Big Sur, it signals the freedom of the open road, and a very mid-century luxury. It is perhaps the perfect way to listen to Matt Berry’s forthcoming album ‘Heard Sounds’, but we thought it a lost and obsolete format. However, we felt that it didn’t have to be that way, and tracked down one of the final manufacturers of 8-Track cartridges in the world to their home in Texas, and have realised the dream of having the new album available in this format.
