I’ve been asked when I’ll start teaching Advanced again, and the truth is, I can’t until most of you reach a more advanced level.
To be honest, this is exactly why I started teaching heels over 15 years ago. When I started teaching, the advanced dancers often didn’t want to learn from me. It used to bother me because my intentions were pure.
But you can’t force people to want to learn. So I chose to focus on those who did…..usually people on a lower level. And honestly, it forced me to refine my teaching skills and explain my technique in detail, so it worked out the way it was supposed to.
Nowadays, it’s a little different. I think it’s because I’m older now and don’t really dance as much, so I’m less competition to the booked kids. The gap in true skill is also growing, and more dancers seem tired of the same shit and not being corrected
