Really really excited to finally share this project which is very special to me

Key Change is a music / art based lesson plan and activity I developed and implemented at the beginning of the year in partnership with @teachersempowered @standtogether as part of the @wendemuseum Teen Counsel Program

I worked with 12 students over the course of the school year meeting once a month and taught about graphic design and music history and its impact on socio-political and cultural movements.

Students were encouraged to come up with a fictional band name and design graphics, come up with logos and a political message they wanted to represent.

Students then produced “merch” using their designs and sold items at the student organized Teen Night, which featured live music, arts and crafts, a silent disco, face painting etc all of which I had the opportunity to help coordinate

All profits from students merch sales were ultimately donated to a non-profit organization of their choice

I would love to run this program again and / or do more teaching in general so if you or an institution you’re associated with is interested in partnering on a project please reach out to me !

Special thank you to @dianadiazlabel for helping facilitate and to @totallyfoundation @like.mgmt and @monsqueeze for the intro to Stand Together
