“X-TRUTH”

Vittorio Valigi + NM3
Stainless Steel, X-Ray Film (original, enhanced)

The installation draws on the structural references of an illuminator and a monolith, blending diagnostic and enigmatic elements. The illuminator, used in medical settings to backlight radiographic images, is a device that reveals a sometimes brutal scientific truth. The monolith is a pure form with an inscrutable function, a shape on which purpose is projected by the context. Together, they elevate the prosthesis from mere medical object to a sacred and symbolic element. With its illustrative function, similar to that of a hospital information screen, the piece offers a glimpse into the body, but withholds full disclosure.

“FLESH AND METAL, A Prosthetic Decade”
Exhibited and Curated by Vittorio Valigi

The exhibition is an homage to the life-changing process of overcoming trauma, offering a moment to reflect and raise awareness on invisible disabilities while presenting an utterly intimate display of beauty and terror.

A fundraising initiative has been launched to support the scientific research department at Meyer Children’s Hospital in its vital work to combat and defeat oncological diseases. Link in bio to donate to @fondazionemeyer.
