For the group show 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝟰𝟯: (𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗺?) we created the visual for 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀, artist @crazinist_artist was commissioned to create a documentary about her practice and space, perfocraZe Int Artist Residency (pIAR), and to perform in Kumasi, Ghana. pIAR is an interdisciplinary artist’s incubator, hatchery, and radical performance space. By staging her performance and developing her documentary in Kumasi rather than in Buro Stedelijk’s Central Space, we question what it might mean to decide that not all works need to be seen here, and what does their absence tell us about both space and the gaze?
