Last week I was in NYC seeing @voguemagazine team and attending #Forcesoffashion event at their headquarters. The same day Vogue’s creative editorial director Mark Guiducci @guiducci dispatched to Europe for a similar event with @britishvogue in London. In between those two Mark visited Kyiv for our 7th annual #VogueUkraineConference, second time live since the beginning of the big war. On the day of the event sitting at @voguefrance offices in Paris I was doing a live Q&A with my friend and colleague, @voguejapan’s Head of editorial content Tiffany Godoy @tiffanygodoypresents who was broadcasting from her offices in Tokyo. Vogue US Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour sent in her greeting video from New York. Speakers from London, Madrid and Vilnius took the stage, in person and online. To think a project like this can even be possible in the country under attack is daring. To make it an international event is reaffirming and sort of crazy. But we like crazy. I want to thank Vogue’s global network, our audience at the sold-out event. And the incredible @vogue_ukraine team who made it happen. On to the next one as they say.

Over the last 2,5 years we at @vogue_ukraine have interviewed so many incredible people — visionaries, game-changers, cultureshifters and fighters. Out of this a new project #VogueUkraineLeaders, an annual print edition celebrating individuals and collectives that define our nation’s present and shape its future, was born. In the Class of 2024 there is Mstyslav Chernov, an Associated Press war journalist and director who for the outstanding documentary work in the seiged city of Mariupol together with his team brought Ukraine its first Oscar; Yaroslava Gres who up till this July was managing UNITED24, a governmental project amassing USD660+ million in donations to military and war relief; Sasha Andrusik who runs UKHO agency championing new academic music, Darya Bassel who’s galvanized Ukrainian film scene with DocuDays festival; curators Stas Turina and Kateryna Libkind of ateliernormalno collective that works with neurodiverse artists. And my personal hero Victoria Khamyza, who in the worst imaginable frontline places is doing incredible volunteer work, beyond human capabilities. There are many more. I’m going to be inappropriately selfish today and will congratulate ME on 15 years of incredible and joyful friendship with Ms Cate Underwood, the most gracious, grounded, kindest and, honestly, sanest person I have ever met. Everyday with you is a blessing and i learn from you so fucking much. Happy Birthday my love @undervoodoo. And to @irina_saint who raised an extraordinary daughter. Дякую, мамо! Fun fact: we didn’t quite like each other the first time we met. Which again proves my lifetime axiom that life is a journey and honestly you never know.
