Akin - in the studio in a mix of film and digital. I’ve been out of la for so long. Itching to get back. Who’s in need of photos? 📸

The other week I brought my dad into the studio. This was the first time I’ve ever really photographed any family members, especially in a studio setting. We have been lucky that his job had him down in la for most of the time over the last 6ish weeks. So instead of staying in a hotel, he stayed with me in my apartment. It was a cool experience for him to see how I’ve grown and how I’m living. Also a chance for him to check out my studio space and see first hand how I operate behind the camera. Obviously I had to put him in some @emerygolf because we have some new stuff dropping, so hey, 2 birds 1 stone eh? This was a really great experience that I hope to cherish forever.

Louise Marguerite Christmas 🤍🕊️🕊️🕊️ 10/7/1931-9/12/2024 It’s been a few weeks and I’m sure not how to put into words how this one has hit home for me. My grandma and I had a great relationship that was mostly based on me eating, and both of us napping. From her picking me up after school, to me falling asleep in the car before we even got on the expressway. I’m not sure what it was, but every time I was around her, I would fall asleep. From the time I was a child, to even me as an adult. My memories with her are countless and putting into words isn’t easy. From making tortillas and chicken molé, to eating grapefruit, feeding her tortoise, crushing cans for her, eating ice cream, the list goes on. Losing someone isn’t easy, especially as you get older, loss affects us differently. This is something that I normally wouldn’t put on the internet anymore but these are some really fond photos and memories I have with her and I’d like to be able to go back and look at them easily. I’ll miss you, my Grandma Wheaties 🥣🕊️

The 20 slide carousel came out at a perfect tome for my to share this story with you. Last Tuesday morning just after midnight I woke up to a big commotion going outside. Long story short, a fire had broken out in the apartment complex a couple plexes down from me. Once I had learned @losangelesfiredepartment was on the scene and saw they were containing the fire, I grabbed my camera and headed out. LAFD was there in minutes and handled everything as true professionals, which led to saving others homes and not allowing the fire to spread more than it already had. Although it is very sad that these people lost everything, I wanted to share with you all what I had seen through my lens.

Another shoot with @enyakollek from last November.. these were very fun and extremely run and gun. Wandering the nearby streets of dtla, unknowingly that I would have a studio within walking distance. There’s more to this series but they’re somewhere on a hard drive and so maybe next year I will share them, gotta stay on brand ya know?
