I’m so overwhelmingly impressed with Insomniac: The Movie. 16 groups of filmmaking teams made a frickin hilarious, thoughtful, tear-inducing feature length film together. All made in this wild broken telephone way! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen before!! And IT’S SO FREAKING GOOD!!! Magical DIY arts making made by a group of incredible artists. And I’m so proud of the whole @insomniacfest team - that we were able to pivot from our annual Insomniac Film Festival and somehow come up with this cool-as-heck idea. I’m so proud of all the ways that we’ve grown over the past 8 years, and I’m so excited for what we come up with in the future. :’) This festival means THE WORLD to me, and I’m very, very excited to finally be sharing our movie with THE WORLD! Veda Hingert-McDonald, Morgan Lovell, Amanda Lowry and Arie Verheul van de Ven are gonna score the films LIVE! And then Lief Ramsaran is gonna re-mix the films as the musicians score Lief’s remix! YOU’VE GOT TO SEE IT TO BELIEVE IT!!! So tune in THIS SATURDAY to see it! It’s FREE!! ——— (Arie and I curated this show, it’s a sequel to Videocrunch 1.0, which frickin ruled! I am freakin' ASTOUNDED that the 5th annual INSOMNIAC FILM FESTIVAL is tomorrow!!! When we started this festival 5 years ago, never did we imagine that it would blossom into what it is today..... —————- Curating and organizing this festival with some of my closest friends is the highlight of my year. It makes me emotional, inspired, and excited AF to be able to share these daring, risk-taking, thoughtful, personal films every summer with all of you supportive folks!!!! —————- Every time I'm frustrated with the world of film, I remember that there's a community of young filmmakers here in Toronto that are interested in capturing that ever important youthful sense of filmmaking freedom. It makes me :') !!! Thank you to all u filmmakers for constantly inspiring the team and I, and for all u amazing ppl for being a part of this wonderful community!!!! —————- Come to THE ROYAL CINEMA tomorrow at 8pm for a night you'll never forget!!!
