ANIMAL KILLERS!

Two of our films that were made as sister pieces. One in Mumbai, one in Delhi. Both played on Netflix for 3 years each. And they’re now on YouTube. Link in bio! Check them out and let us know what they made you feel. Song - Monsters in my head, by Ganesh Talkies. (Which is also used in the film itself). Reel made by @nothingbutfilms

FILM PLAYING ON YOUTUBE! (SUBS AVAILABLE)
20 years ago, the same man who’s collaborated on this post, had come to FTII in the year 2004 and taught a bunch of assorted men and women dialogue writing in the Screenwriting Department. I was one of those people. Followed by the dialogue workshop, he showed us Black Friday. He was very proud of it, and I got to see first hand, what a filmmaker feels and goes through in terms of excitement, pregnant as such, with a new film.
Post that the film got banned. And we heard from people as we left FTII and began working in Mumbai that it had affected AK sir a lot. When we hear such things, some part of us, never imagines that waiting for a finished film to finally see the light of day can take many years. We always feel subconciously that it’ll happen to others but not to us. And then it does. It’s part of every filmmaker’s journey at some point to sit with a finished film for a long long while, in this case, 4.5 years. And in this case, it also happened to be the one both Sweta (a most integral part of this film in every way from its inception and a co-producer) and I, are most proud of and connected to. And today, it’s being set free into the world amidst a film community of well wishers, film lovers, filmmakers and actors and techinicians who are all supporting this release, starting with the same smiling, joyous, happily Film-Pregnant man who had taught us how to write dialogue at FTII in 2004.

There is a QR code at the beginning of the film. donations will be given to a Prevention Centre. a chance to make cinema directly useful to the cause. Both my partner and I have lost loved ones to this.

Rucha Inamdar and Harsh Chhaya I am forever grateful for your beautiful work on this film and for giving so honestly and completely to the film and characters. Words fail me each time I see the film and realize your contribution to it as actors. Just deep gratitude.

Biggest thanks to Anuradha Pandey, who has beautiful parents of her own, and who made both Sweta and me feel parental and became like a daughter to us. That urge made me want to write this film about a father-daughter bond.

For any younger filmmaker, to just have been there to capture these moments is a big big deal. As a cinema lover, these are priceless. Imtiaz saahab takes a picture of Ishika and Vikram sir. Vikram sir takes a photo of @anuragkashyap10. Then Imtiaz saahab and vikram sir both get their Saafaas done. ❤️❤️❤️❤️. Finally Ishika and Vikram sir enter a Photo Booth for photos. Such a sweet thing to see.

The dad who didn’t get swayed by money all his working life. And then did anything he could, for over a year, to help do his part to make this magical wedding happen. Now @anuragkashyap10 can go back to being his choosy self. Sometimes, Fatherhood trumps principles. Something to take home from this as well. ❤️ 📷 : @swetachhabria

This one is purely to celebrate you @artb
Here we stand, soaked in sweat after dancing to our heart’s content for hours this night. My friend, you are very real. That’s the most beautiful part about you. Your motherhood is real. Your friendship is real. Your life is real. Because your intent and actions match so much, you appear to be superhuman. So much to learn from your actions, your sense of priorities, responsibilities, actually my friend it would very difficult for anyone to match you. And it’s no coincidence that you’re an editor. No bullshit. All fact and honesty and reality. Also, for decades both you and @anuragkashyap10 have been community builders, givers and nurturers and last night was a culmination of that feeling. So much community spirit in the air. Very rare. I hope you rest well for you’ve been a very very solid parent and testament to that was this gorgeous wedding. Where everyone had a blast. People from overseas, people from india, everyone. Rest well my friend. You deserve it. ❤️

As a thought experiment, for one week, try accepting that you’re not going to become a star. Fame will be limited. But you will become a very respected and capable artist. Writer. Actor. Filmmaker. Whatever you choose. Just try it as a thought experiment. To really let it go. A hypothetical situation. Now that you have accepted it in your imagination, how would you do things differently? Your social media posts would be different, the way you use your time would be different. Your day and what all is done everyday would be different. Slowly slowly things will all change. Just try it for a while. As an experiment. Like an improvisation. And see what you do differently? The energy you put out, is determined by what you really seek.
