Started the day with a little “Sound of Music” by listening to the nuns of Stift Nonnberg, where the real Maria was a novice. Then onto Berchtesgaden to scale the heights of the Jenner Mountain for a view of the Königssee. Afterwards we visited the Eagle’s Nest, Hitler’s Tea House at Obersalzburg, which was also where the 101st Airborne Division (my grandfather’s division) finished their campaign following the invasion of Normandy.
