There’s a lot more than just wine that makes Bordeaux one of the French cities to visit. A rich heritage combined with a ton of contemporary architecture, an endless list of museums, beautiful vineyards, the ocean close by… and a brand new Bellerose store. Considering a trip to La Belle Endormie? Grab your notebook and write down our best addresses.

PS. Our curated soundtrack to discovering Bordeaux is coming soon.

@ph7bordeaux : connecting carefully selected traditional and contemporary objects from all over the world, pH7 is a refuge for those that desire authenticity and savoir faire. Wabi-sabi, but in Bordeaux.

@mimicremerie : a grocer’s shop — épicerie sounds so much better — dedicated to the finer things in life. Such as cheese, wine, butter and charcuterie, from small producers from all over France.

@cafeeriu : neighbourhood café and restaurant with an Irish twist that is welcoming and easy-going, and located near a lush jardin public. A lovely place for breakfast, brunch and lunch.

@pickles.bordeaux : bar and restaurant in the heart of the city, with a focus on — you guessed it! — pickles and fermented vegetables. Also offers a great selection of natural and organic wines.

@lameca_nouvelleaquitaine : an architectural masterpiece, designed by Bjarke Ingels. La MECA houses artists, authors, producers, directors, visual artists, choreographers and more, and the public is welcome to attend and observe whatever is going on.

@motto_bar : bar Ideal for fans of cocktails and fresh tapas. An intimate and welcoming spot with a wide range of signature cocktails, accompanied by great music and the occasional DJ set.

@lalchimiste_torrefacteur : a true haven for coffee connoisseurs, l’Alchimiste offers honest, traceable and — above all — damn tasty coffee. More than just a coffee bar, it’s also a roastery, and a place where future baristas can learn everything there is to know.

What do coffee, design, saunas, and architecture have in common? Well, Helsinki is a hotspot for all of them. The Finnish capital oozes modernity and tradition at once, offering a unique blend of urban sophistication and natural beauty. Located on the Gulf of Finland, it’s a place full of vibrant culture, but with an easy going rhythm and compact size. A favourite of ours for sure.

Our guide to Helsinki is now online.

Right by the well-known Vondelpark and the equally popular museum district (have you even been to Amsterdam if you didn’t visit the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh museum?) you’ll find the super cozy Oud-Zuid district. Renowned for its beautiful houses, high-end boutiques and fine dining options, Oud-Zuid combines an authentic, residential character with a modern, luxurious feel. You’ll find the most recent of our two Amsterdam stores on a scenic corner in the Cornelis Schuytstraat. A location that fits us like a glove.

Our team is ready to welcome you every day of the week, please check the website for detailed opening hours.

The season for impromptu weekend getaways into the woods — or the wild even — has officially started, so we suggest gearing up. In for short hikes and long nights in front of the fireplace, or determined to conquer the wildest trails through icy winds and snow? We got you either way.

Human ingenuity never ceases to amaze. And there’s no better example to back up this statement than some of the incredible architectural structures that find themselves at dizzying heights. Engulfed in the sky, far removed from the city, these buildings demonstrate man’s will to defy nature but to be part of it at the same time. We’ve collected some of our favourites, from the Canadian Rockies to the Italian Dolomites. Enjoy.

While we were in the Italian Alps to create our Moonlight Mountain editorial, we were lucky enough to stay at the wonderful @hotel.lamadonnina.cogne . And while we were there, we were even luckier to taste the incredible local dish known as “Seupetta de Cogne”. Curious? Well, as an early Christmas gift to you, here’s the recipe:

Seupetta de Cogne for 4:

Ingredients:
- 250g of rice
- 250g of Fontina cheese (in thin slices)
- Meat broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarians)
- Bread croutons made with brown butter
- Cinnamon powder
- White wine

Preparation:
Put the butter in a saucepan and add the rice until it is toasted, then flame it with white wine.
After that, keep on cooking the rice while gradually adding the broth (which has to be prepared in advance).
A few minutes before the rice is fully cooked, start putting the rice in a casserole dish. You should be making layers: a layer of rice, and then a layer of Fontina cheese. Go for 2 or 3 layers of each.
Finish the dish by adding the croutons and sprinkling cinnamon all over it.

Enjoy!
