Thank you @hairdressersjournal and @charlottegrantwest for giving me a soap box moment to talk some more about how I believe we, as salon owners need to manage, adapt and embrace the challenges of 2025. Pick up your copy!

You’re only ever as good as the people you surround yourself with. I had a great time out with the @thehairmovementsalon team for a seasonal “let your hair down” (if I had any) day, enjoying a lovely meal and some karaoke and lots of laughs (sadly a few were away). The success of that business lies in understanding that it “takes a village” to achieve success. Each of us has different roles and drivers, creating a healthy “tension on the string” where everyone passionately pulls their string, yet pulls together to achieve our goals as a salon brand. The tribe is made up of an amazing and eclectic group of personalities, which definitely can at times make things more challenging - but it always makes things better. 2024 has been our best year yet, but we know that 2025 will be even better. Surround yourself with great people, nurture them and the rest will follow!

@prohairmag asked @davidcorbetthairdressing @inanchlondon and myself - “A competitor is opening on the same high street as me, where there are already two other salons. What should i do to avoid losing clients or staff, and how can i stop it affecting my business?” Here’s our take.

“Are Assistants still an essential part of the working salon?” A really important conversation to be had, especially now. Thanks @hairdressersjournal for letting me voice my take on the topic alongside @jamiebrookshair and @daniele_deangelishair

A few days on and here are my thoughts on the 2024 budget and what we have to do in 2025.

A few weeks ago at @salon_int, we had an in-depth conversation on the business stage about recruitment and retention. But in today’s world, it’s about much more than just finding great people. With our industry evolving rapidly, salon and business owners must stay proactive and ahead of the curve to build and retain strong teams.

As trends, technology, and client expectations constantly shift, forward-thinking is essential. Success today means fostering a culture that embraces change, investing in ongoing training, and empowering teams to grow and adapt with the industry—all while staying true to your brand values.

Staying adaptable doesn’t just help us retain great talent; it enables us to succeed together in this dynamic field. Let’s keep raising the bar.
