These are some fun animations I had the pleasure of making for Sunderland City Council @sunderlandukofficial, they’re currently on display at the Expo Pavilion in Keel Square, Sunderland. The Expo Pavilion is a contemporary exhibition and immersive space which will provide a centrepiece for Expo Sunderland – a series of inspiring and exciting events in 2026. The screen itself is a giant, semi-transparent LED screen, thought to be one of the largest of its kind in the UK. Head over to @exposunderland to discover more about Expo Sunderland.

Sample packs. Just taking some inspiration from an old piece by Vincent Schwenk, I wanted to try to create some deforming rigid bodies whose polygon faces randomly pop outwards and bump into neighbouring blocks. Matchbox monsters I just felt these guys had a little bit more in the tank. As before, I made these using the RBD cone twist constraint with motors in Houdini. Matchbox monsters – all torque no action. Just looking to further my knowledge and understanding of the RBD cone twist constraint in Houdini combined with motors. I set these up using the SOP Bullet Solver workflow rather than the DOP network approach. The cars are models I took from Sketchfab with my own edits.
