I recently often catch myself saying I’m from Maluku whenever people ask me where I’m from rather than Indonesia. I don’t want to only define myself on the country I’m from but on the true roots where my parents come from and the environment I truly grew up with. us Moluccans are originally Melanesians and I tend to forget how special we are.
