The sound of the forest Among the naturally reverberant spaces, the forest is my favorite. The way sound, in our case the human voice, is reflected and diffused from the tree trunks is quite unique and unlike any man-made interior space, Creating a beautiful, immersive and real sense of space in the soundtrack. We’re in our 5th year of working together, on the seventh production, making this my longest running relationship with a client ever. This is also the most demanding job I’ve ever done in terms of concentration and importance of sound. 30 minute unscripted takes where we have up to ten people mic’ed up and we mostly don’t know who will say what and when. No alternative takes. The production is unscripted, so ADR is out of the question. Our tracks need to be intelligible and clean, all the while we try to keep things flowing and interrupt as little as possible in order to maintain a peaceful, calm and generally positive atmosphere on the set which is paramount for the quality of the results. @amrkhaled is a masterful speaker who never fails to impress with his delivery and focus. In consequence it is only logical for us as the sound team to strive for the same level of concentration and professionalism. In return we are afforded trust and appreciation, which are the two most important „soft factors“ in our (and probably any) line of work, in my opinion.
