@seduction.city.sound launch their monthly Blues City Sundays dance on 22nd December… but what is a “blues” party? Before the garage rave, before acid house, jungle and hardcore took over, there were blues parties. Typically hosted in private basements and community halls, they were a safe haven for Britain’s disenfranchised black youth in the 60s, 70s and 80s. A space for the UK’s growing Caribbean diaspora to come together amid a soundtrack of lover’s rock, reggae, dub and ska. Ladbroke Grove to Stoke Newington, midlands to the south coast, these parties would lay the foundations for UK dance music culture. It’s all indebted to the blues. Now, a few decades on, this iconic all-female soundsystem are primed to bring an essence of that community spirit to the Factory.
