I am so beyond thrilled that my short Some Day All This Will Be Yours will have its European premiere at the Champ-Élysées Film Festival in Paris! I shot this film in my childhood home over a very long and weird weekend. It’s a ghost story, a horror film, a comedy, and it’s very close to my heart. I’ve never made more personal work and I’m so happy it has a home at this festival which shows so many truly experimental and incredible artists. I am so grateful to the folks who helped me make this a reality. @benjamin_shearn who did miracles with the footage in the edit, @sameilertsen for being a VERY game DP, @jerrypaper_reality for writing music, @jarr_jar for a killer sound mix, @ericallenhatch for teaching me how film festivals work, friends who have notes and encouragement including @sukirose_official, @pittasnakes, @2_decadent, @benfobrien and many many more. This shit is strange and I can’t wait for y’all to see it!

Happy birthday to Ben, a friend whose birthday merits a grid post EVERY YEAR because you are that special and because you’re my emergency contact and I want you to pick up if they ever call you. We were young together and now we’re medium together and I can’t imagine doing any of it without you. You dab when you sneeze, you’re the only person allowed to talk to me about astrology, you are the most fun and thoughtful creative partner and travel companion and person to veg with. Also I accidentally included the photo of where my car was parked at City Walk when I went to see Conclave tonight but I’m leaving it in there because you let me call you and rant about Conclave for fifteen minutes even though you aren’t going to see it. Happy birthday to my true friend. You are such a bright light in the world.

Hiked the 50 miles of the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island with backpacking companion extraordinaire @raaachmonroe. Pictured - some of the amazing views, our muddy boots, the endless ladders through the rainforest, the ocean, us so happy at the end, and some loud rude sea lions who I love. Not pictured - orcas playing in the surf together, bear tracks, seals, kind strangers we met along the way, what it feels like to sleep in a puddle all night (wet and bad), knee-high mud, how hard it was, how it reduced everything to dry and warm = happy and wet and cold = sad, a 16 year friendship that is one of the great joys of my life

Thank you so, so much to the @overlookfilmfest jury for giving Some Day All This Will Be Yours the grand jury prize for short films this year. I’m so grateful especially because this festival is exactly where I would dream my work could be - a fest made by and for real people who love real weird horror. Special thank you to @futureschlock for programming this film and Chomp. This short is the most personal thing I’ve ever made and I was so scared to make it and so convinced that probably no one else would see it. I made it after losing a lot of ‘normal’ career opportunities during pandemic, in a time when I thought well fuck it, no one will give me permission to make work so I have to give that to myself. It’s been really amazing to see it take off and to see that other people have found things to relate to in it. The second slide is a pic I just found of me as a teenager talking on the phone - I made this for her (and for the dog). The last slide is the thing I’m the saddest I had to cut from the film - if you need this as a custom yard sign let me know. Eternal thank you to @benjamin_shearn who edited this and who is an incredible collaborator without whom this film would have made no sense. I hope you work on everything I ever make. And thank you to @sameilertsen who showed up as a stranger and immediately understood how to shoot this weird thing and who brought the best crew. Thank you to @jerrypaper_reality who wrote music and @jarr_jar who mixed and the many friends who gave notes throughout the process esp @sukirose_official. 🖤

Ohhhh I’ve wanted to go to @overlookfilmfest so bad for so long! Everyone says it is the absolute best and most fun and scariest and coolest - and so I’m thrilled to say that both CHOMP (made with co-chomper @sukirose_official ) and Some Day All This Will Be Yours (edited by @benjamin_shearn and shot by @sameilertsen ) will be playing there, among what looks like a fuckin killer shorts lineup (including two of my favs already - Dream Creep by @carlos_af_lopez and The Influencer by @lael.j.rog - both expertly produced by @itsmeganleo).
