3 years in the making!! We finally recieved our set of @gl_optics rehoused Minolta Rokkors. Hand-picked by John here at dbVRentals this set was put through their paces to ensure color matching and pleasant sharpness—it’s a beautiful set. Consisting of several infamous lenses such as the 58mm T/1.3 “Hawk Eye”, the elusive T/2.1 version of the 135mm, and a rarely rehoused 17mm wide angle. Our set is rounded out with a 24mm T/2.9, 35mm T/1.9, 85mm T/1.8, & an optional 45mm T/1.5 Yashica. And yes, the entire set covers FF. We had the opportunity to provide cameras for the filming of Squarespace’s “5 to 9” ad that aired during Super Bowl LV. Director Damien Chazelle (La La Land & Whiplash) and Cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto (Barbie & Killers of the Flower Moon). Rodrigo knew from the beginning he wanted to shoot anamorphic on the Venice, so they took both of our camera bodies and paired them with a set of Hawk ClassX primes from @tcsfilm New York. It was a fun 3 days servicing the shoot. Everyone involved, from camera to production, were all kind and professional, and we were especially excited to see a good bit of local crew on the job.
