Artist Introduction ~ Forum Klub 13.12.24 @soft.matter live Softmatter aka Anna Pavlova is a music producer, vocalist and DJ, based in Berlin. Softmatter’s experimental productions weave staggering rhythms, mutated basslines, and intricate sound design with her voice as a central element. With her unique approach to vocal-club integration, she treads new territories of club experimentalism, paving the way for future iterations of the style. Since beginning her production journey in 2012 and debuting live in 2015, Softmatter has performed at renowned festivals and showcases such as Boiler Room, Mutek, and Creamcake. She has shared stages with visionaries including Andy Stott, Nkisi, Nthing, Bassvictim, Emma DJ, Abadir, Miley Serious, Babii, and ACT! (formerly Egyptrixx). Her debut EP, Muscle Performance (2020), on Halocline Trance, introduced a bold vision of new club aesthetics. In 2021, her sophomore EP, Hyle, on Infinite Machine, pushed these ideas further, blending daring sonic concepts with a thought-provoking narrative. She has also contributed standout tracks to compilations by Infinite Machine, Parkinstone, Soulfeeder, and evo-natura. Her strong interest in new technology led her to creating spatial audio performances and installations, including a spatial performance at the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) in Montreal, where she spatialized her compositions across 157 speakers in the dome. Currently in the studio crafting her debut album, she continues to refine her sonic language, with glimpses of her latest material appearing in forthcoming live and DJ sets. - Artwork @steviewhisper
