‘Wire God’ by GIDEÖN & Rush Davis, the 10th release on HOMO-CENTRIC RECORDS @homo.centric is out today. This track was written on scraps of paper in a Bedford-Styuyvesant apartment last year, just 1 day after me and @rushlikeathrill from The House of Xtravaganza met for the first time at @basementnewyork . This recording captures the energy and momentum of our worlds colliding and it represents the first bit of magic to come from our subsequent musical partnership. With an iPhone as a microphone, a vacuum cleaner as a mic-stand, a bag of Palestinian za’ataar as a mic-rest and a wardrobe as a vocal-booth, ‘Wire God’ captures the urgency of this super-charged meeting.I knew from the first second of that cobbled together diy meeting that Rush was a true genius of extraordinary talent and that I was a lucky motherfukka to be working with him. It’s not surprising that he has just been nominated for a GRAMMY !!!!!! @recordingacademy for his writing on @kaytranada “Timeless”. Despite our being worlds apart geographically and us being from two very different backgrounds, we both hold a common approach to the referencing and reverence of our eternal muse: queer history, the musical traditions of our LGBTQ+ heroes and their omnipresent, ubiquitous ghosts.
