Contemporary artist Sara Pope is best known for her bold, seductive paintings of voluptuous lips. Taking inspiration from a successful career in the fashion industry as a shoe designer for brands such as Paul Smith, and also her work in magazines as a designer and art director, Sara aims to capture the sensuality and seductive power conveyed by the lips and mouth. Interested in questions of beauty, communication, and the notion of perfection, Sara uses the perspective of her commercial experience to explore these themes.
The starting point is a makeup brush and a lipstick. She paints the models’ lips, then, using tricks and techniques of makeup and lighting, she begins the process of creating the perfect lips. She asks the model, to express different emotions which she captures photographically. Using these shots as inspiration she begins the artwork. The painting process involves several layers of thin oil-diluted paint being overlaid, blending and smoothing the colours extensively at every stage, sometimes also mixing lipstick into the paint.
Emulating the stylistic slickness of advertising, the result is glossy, perfect and irresistible.

Lauren Baker is a British contemporary multidisciplinary artist who exhibits internationally.
Her work explores human connection, metaphysics and the expansiveness of the universe.
Lauren's signature neon works portray the power of energy through her poetic typographic and celestial chakra artworks. Passionate about environmental issues and sustainability, the artist uses light to express the 'secrets of the universe' and aims to raise the vibration of love and connection within the world.
She is an experimental artist whose practice expands across multiple disciplines and mediums to address the vastness of the universe. Conceptually grounded but also aesthetically striking, her work involves making the unseen seen.
Baker’s visual style is often built around either emitting or reflecting light. Many of her pieces directly reference the frequencies emitted by astronomical bodies, as well as those attributed to plants, human organs and chakras.
She has created installations at The V&A, Tate Britain and Tate Modern and her works are held in collections worldwide.

The matriarch is said to have enjoyed the artwork, but requested that her ‘Philip’ heart tattoo be changed to the royal crest – and Mark dutifully obliged. He says: “Allegedly, she burst out laughing but requested that it be changed so that it matched her bathrobes and slippers.”

German artist Max Wiedemann undermines pop culture images to challenge the misrepresentations of ideas created in advertising. Commissioned by VH1 for a series of celebrity paintings, the artist has also collaborated with photographer Tyler Shields on the cover of The Big Issue newspaper. After working in advertising for a decade, Wiedemann concluded that art was a pertinent method for connecting to a contemporary world. He developed a unique method that enables him to integrate graffiti with glamorous advertisements and pop culture images onto canvas. He aims to configure how we perceive pop culture by situating art as advertisements. Works such as Recently Richer (2018) integrate luxury brand names like Rolls Royce with clever titles aimed at the conceit of the rich. Wiedemann’s work is influenced by high fashion and celebrities and artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring.

Detail from ‘Primavera’, Botticelli (1482).’I am living permanently in my dream, from which I make occasional forays into reality’ Sandro Botticelli
Stones are like earth’s memories. Billions of years tightly bound into a single fossilised fragment. For centuries they have danced with the elements and their dance will continue long after I’m gone. I help choreograph one tiny moment; I am just a fellow actor, not the Director of the show. JB

“We are all living in-between worlds that are influenced by our surroundings. Our gaze is unique to each one of us, warped and changed from each perspective. The balls float in a world of reflections that contrast the worlds that influence us, urging the viewer to take a look within and without. “ - @kolodnyart
