Random moments in Saudi. Came here briefly for work and left with more questions than answers, but found these bits of good light and color worth sharing anyway.

Revisiting portraits of @innocenceproject exonerees photographed for @nytimes earlier this year. Probably some of the most gracious people I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. I haven’t talked about this a whole lot on here but I had the privilege of doing a month long farmstay at an off grid ranch earlier this year. It was supposed to be one of those grand and impulsive adventures that you embark on during the freedom of your mid twenties; instead, I found myself on Sherri and Bill’s doorstep barely a month after my dad’s sudden passing. I don’t really believe in fate, but I am grateful for the bits of life that line up just right. The city—which I normally loved for its vibrancy and fullness of life—had become a grating reminder that the world keeps moving even when your own life has ground to a halt. I was craving space, quiet, room to breathe. I didn’t pick up my camera nearly as much as I thought I would. The farm has an uncanny way of keeping you busy enough to feel useful, and grounded enough to rest in heaping, unapologetic quantities. This year has felt like a hundred new beginnings, and when I look at these photos, I see some of the first. Slivers of life and good light seeping into an impending spring.
