March 29, 1982. The date when a North Carolina college freshman made a 16-foot jump shot with 15 seconds left. It was the moment that would give the Tar Heels a 63-62 win over Georgetown to win the NCAA Tournament Championship. This fresh faced 19 year old would go on to become the game’s greatest ever player, with this very shot becoming his first defining moment. Simply put, it was “When Mike, Became Michael”.
40 years on and
@mitchellandnessaunz have brought back the hallowed jersey. To celebrate its launch here in Australia, we created a short motion piece that speaks to how this very moment has, and will continue to inspire a new generation of fans. A homage to the greatest.
