VISLA PAPER @vislamag 《DAMAGE》 by KOESY x SHURAURYU 코에시와 슈라우류는 현실의 순간을 포착한 필름 사진 위에 3D 그래픽을 활용해 가상의 세계를 창조한다. 환상과 현실의 끊임없는 간섭은 두 사람이 세계를 바라보는 방식이자, 세계에 대한 믿음의 씨앗이기도 하다. 《DAMAGE》는 서울에 처음 발을 디딘 두 사람이 수많은 눈동자에서 발견한 믿음에 관한 이야기다. 매주 종교 행사에 참석하는 이들은 물론, 신이 죽은 시대에 신을 대체한 과학을 맹신하는 이들, 특정 사상이나 유행을 따르는 이들 역시 열렬한 신도와 크게 다를 바 없다. 신은 결국 인간 안에 각기 다른 모습으로 존재하며 그 형태는 개인의 상처와 결핍에 기인한다. 서울에서 두 사람은 그 어떤 것도 믿지 않는 듯한 콘크리트 같은 얼굴들을 마주한다. 그리고 그 뒤에 우리가 보지 못한 다른 신을 보고 있을 그들을 상상한다. 인간은 저마다의 상처를 가지며 그로 인해 각자만의 신을 찾게 됨을 두 사람은 직감하기 때문이다. 《DAMAGE》 by KOESY x SHURAURYU Koesy and Shurauryu create an imagined world, blending 3D graphics with film photography that captures real moments. This continuous interplay between illusion and reality reflects not only how they view the world but also serves as the seeds of their faith in it. 《DAMAGE》 tells a story of belief discovered in the countless gazes they encountered upon first setting foot in Seoul. Among them are those who attend religious gatherings every week, as well as those who, in an era where “God is dead,” place blind faith in science as a replacement. Others follow certain ideologies or trends with a devotion not unlike that of fervent believers. Ultimately, God exists within each individual in unique forms, shaped by personal wounds and voids. In Seoul, they confront faces as expressionless as concrete, appearing to believe in nothing. Yet, they imagine these people gazing upon a different, unseen god.
