For the past six months, I’ve been working on this big interactive comic about watching, worry, and baby tech for The Verge. It’s the most private thing I’ve ever published, and I’d be so glad if you read it. Link in my stories, tho I’d be extra happy if you read it on desktop 😘 Big thanks to ace editor @knguyen

A little tour of my office, the smallest room in my house and the one I spend most of my time in, over at The Verge. 🪩 It was such a joy and privilege to make a room of one’s own in the soupiest pink I could find, filled with crocheted goodies by @ariellewiton, sentimental QSL cards from @jessica_giles, art from @novgorodoff, @space.vacation, @michahuigenillustration, a deranged and perfect lamp from my grandmother’s home, and the desk of my dreams built by @jefferyngleaves. This room used to belong to @meganmcummins, so being in it is also being with her brilliance. Link in stories!

This ~*~massive~*~ homage to 2004 just went live at The Verge dot com, and I’m wildly proud to work with the tiniest, scrappiest, most brilliant art team in the biz who made this deranged dream come true: Cath Virginia, Graham MacAree, and Amelia Holowaty Krales. Go click around!

GOOD MORNING, I WROTE ABOUT MY FEAR OF DEATH AND MY LOVE OF THE 90s NBC DRAMA ER, WHICH DEBUTTED 30 YEARS AGO TODAY! Read it at the Washington Post at the link in my stories, with big gratitude to @hannahgoodart for the commission. This one is dedicated to @_maxnc_ and @lilleallen, the only weirdos I know who also obsessively rewatch this show, and to @dtnice14 who generously loans me his Hulu account.

One year ago I got my guts ripped out and met this ferocious little being. I’ve always sort of hated this painting, especially when I was pregnant—the skull lurking over her swollen belly, the women weeping at her feet—but stumbling into it today, at the end of this year that taught me what my body can do and what it means to be in collaboration with another, felt right. Maybe the women are casting the skull away; maybe the pregnant figure is a triumph, and so is the person she will birth. Happy birthday to my precious E, worth all the guts I’ve got

Today I published the most vulnerable thing I’ve ever written or drawn. Here’s an excerpt, but I’d be so grateful if you read the whole thing at the link in my stories. Eternal thanks to @themuseumofmodernart Mag for giving me the space to come back to myself and my work, drawn at night while my baby slept. This is a love letter to @afrenchfilm and every mother who helped me become one.

I interviewed @space.vacation, one of my favorite designers alive, for this month’s installment of art club at The @verge. I first began working with her at @believermag six years ago, and now she’s a staple at The Verge (and on the walls of my apartment). Her drawings are spooky, weird, beautiful, perfect—go visit her site at the link in my stories to see more.

Six months of Eloise! How did that happen? Babies and pregnancy are such a bizarro time vortex; this is the first drawing I’ve been able to do in almost a year. I wouldn’t trade it for a thing.
