hitting you with the PUGLIA debrief you never knew you needed but trust me when I say, you NEED this.
I haven’t had a crush on something this hard since my first episode of Gossip Girl but Apulia, aka the heel of Italy’s boot, aka the home of €5 panini’s made with produce from the region…and car boot fruit shops…and fresh day boat seafood…and custard/cream filled ‘Pasticciotti’ tarts…and every terrain known to man kind…is that special.
The region literally has something for everyone and everything is within driving distance of each other but the places you gotta hit up are…
Ostuni - the White City, is so picturesque sitting high on the hills. Head to
@barperso for a drink with a view or
@borgoanticobistrot is also great.
Monopoli - port town and probably my favourite place this trip, and it’s not just because I stumbled onto
@_phest_ which was nuts. Visually stunning but had such a vibrancy to the place, I loved it. Not short of places to eat here including
@condominio60 @la_locanda_dei_mercanti @lalocandadeipescatori.
Gallipoli - another port city but the castle here sets the scene. Smaller than Monopoli but equally as lively and very cute. Had my best meal of the trip here
@santa_monaca sitting alfresco in a secluded square but again you’re not short for choice (and a stunning sunset).
Togo Bay - it had never occurred to be that Puglia would have beach clubs…even though there are a bucket load of beaches…and unsurprisingly
@dayslikethese recommended an amazing one
@togobaybeach. Great setting, fantastic beach, friendly staff and top value for money (no minimum spend, was €160 for 2 beds and plenty of drinks and food for the day). A real gem.
Honourable mentions:
The caves at Grotte di Castellna look dope
Locorotondo is stunning but it is quite small (though
@adimare2022 and their €5 panini’s might just be enough to get you there…)
From my last trip here I can thoroughly recommend Alberobello and their UNESCO recognise Trulli housing complex and Polignano a Mare which has one of the most beautiful coves I’ve ever seen.
