#detroit last weekend. Still so much love for this place. It’s incredible and mind-blowing to see the redevelopment and decay. It’s been 25 years since I left the area... the city as I knew it is no more. The city of pain and plenty, black vs white, industrialization at its best and worse. The #americandream and #racism hand in hand. Seems there is hope now and an opportunity to do things differently- inclusively. It’s hard to believe that I have been in Toronto for just over a Decade now. 2010- marks year two in Toronto, after what felt like a lifetime in Montreal. It was the decade where shit got real and it was a a big one for: opportunity, growth, adventure and success, as well as for love, loss, deep heartbreak and grief. Some highlights between now and then: 2 beautiful nephews, 1 more beautiful Niece. Learning and exploring new technologies like 360/VR filming and editing. Building and scaling @wedayofficial with an incredible group of people, from 3 to 16 international shows and 2 national broadcasts. Co-Founding @nordeststudio with @lcoulahan 6 years of MMVA’s. 2 Grey cup half-time Shows. 8 years of touring. Travelling throughout the world and across all of the US and Canada. Taking on Canada’s 150th celebration. Participating in @c3canada traveling from Newfoundland to Halifax via an ice-breaker ship through the Atlantic. Returning in a new capacity to the @thedinahshore Meeting and working along side my friends and mentors Mike Elder and Jim Steele Having @mhanafy25 and @susanalacubana in toronto Working alongside @mnleroux Taking up running and @maureengranteditor as my inspo Meeting @clairzies There were so many highs and so many people who contributed to them and to making my life that much brighter.
