It was an idea that instantly sparked excitement—a vibrant, sportswear-inspired shoot that drew on the timeless allure of Grace Jones. She envisioned it set in a retro gym or perhaps a chic home gym, where the old-school aesthetic would meet contemporary flair… We went back and forth, trading ideas, and contemplating the perfect collaborators who could bring this concept to life. And, of course, there was the ever-elusive goal of finding a publication that would be the right home for this project—the unicorn we all chase in this industry. How do you get a magazine to pay attention? It's about timing, trend awareness, and aligning with the editor's mood (I mean mood board 😜). It's about pitching the story at the perfect moment, making it feel urgent and irresistible—something they didn't know they needed until they saw it. But then, when I connected Myesha with the incredible stylist @marisa_ellison, that’s when the stars truly aligned. The vibe clicked instantly between them, and they hit it off right away. Soon enough, with Olympic fever sweeping the world, our sportswear-themed shoot caught the eye of Vogue Portugal. Hell yes—no holds barred! I’m so proud of everyone involved, and to top it all off, we landed not just one but three covers. Eeeeks! Okay, I’m super late to the party (literally), but I just have to shout from the rooftops about how incredible @artistsarise was last month! 🎉 @ariesrisingprojects, alongside our INCREDIBLE party partners @kathyengbowen, @smashboxstudios, @agency.paradis, @weissmanlaw & @figforfreelancers, threw an absolutely legendary networking happy hour for all the creatives, image-makers, and visionaries out there. The vibe? Pure magic! ✨❤️ On July 18th, Lovejoys in Brooklyn transformed into a buzzing hub of creativity, connection, and—let’s be real—a ton of fun! We mingled, networked, and even threw in a raffle with some seriously awesome prizes: think equipment vouchers from Smashbox, luxury prints by Gloss, portfolio reviews, and more. ★彡 CREATIVE COCOON 彡★ These days, I often reflect on what truly nourishes me, what is deserving of my energy and focus. Foremost in my mind is the joy of creating and exploring spaces like Creative Cocoon, hosted by the wonderful team at @cea.nyc. Here, I can share the power of sound to soothe the nervous system. The delight and fulfillment I find in playing beautiful instruments and crafting soundscapes are undeniable. Last Friday’s Cocoon was made extraordinary by the presence and collaboration of my long-time friend @5amxu. She brought her beautiful essence, care, and the immense strength of the gong. Something powerful unfolded as we roared together, primarily to the crashing of that fantastic, otherworldly piece of metal. Yes, long story short, we encouraged everyone to scream at the top of their lungs when the gong rang out loud. The release was immense. I want to give a big thank you as well to my wonderful friend @xis.stuff for helping us set up - love you big time. Next Creative Cocoon is on Aug 16th.
