Celebrating 🪇 Hispanic Heritage Month 🎥 @Michel.Alanis_ (Associate Member):
As a first generation Mexican-Salvadorian Latina, I feel very fortunate to have been working as a camera operator in the film industry for some time now. Collaborating with DPs and learning from them and their techniques is something really special for me. Receiving the trust from my DPs and freedom to include my own creativity and style into their projects is also such a big highlight in my career as well. At this point in my career I have worked on projects ranging from commercial, narrative, documentary, and music videos, however I hope to land my first television show as a camera operator in the future! When I am not on set I always try to be intentional with teaching other women/femmes and latinx/poc friends how to work within the camera department. Sharing the knowledge that I have been given to other fellow latinx/poc friends is something that is very important to me as I know how difficult it can be to be let into this industry. So much gratitude and thanks to my DPs, colleagues, and mentors that have given me the confidence and opportunities in this industry and allow me to pave the way for other latinx friends!
