‘Birds of Sri Lanka’, 30” x 50”- It’s been a journey painting larger scale…partly because I’m stepping away from my usual whimsy, exploring various styles, and still discovering what I like in the process. This piece was inspired by a morning creative prompt. I love birds, especially those from Sri Lanka. Here’s a wee bit of the tropics in the big bad city! 🦜🐦‍⬛🦩

#experiments: I’ve started doing this creative prompt to boost my intuition and trust the process more. With my eyes closed, I draw random lines usually guided by music. When I open my eyes, I turn the shapes and forms into an image—this time birds appeared! 🦜🦅I did 4 attempts in one sitting and this was my favorite….it actually inspired a larger scale painting which I’m working on!

It’s cancer season…and it’s my birthday today!! Here’s to another year obsessing over the moon, and trying to decipher feelings 😂😭😖🫠 🥹😪🥲. This scene is inspired by my trip upstate to @gaylekabaker ‘s @the.pondhouse where I slept amongst fire flies, and a big fat round moon. #moonlit
