I’m going through the documentation of my show last month and just wanted to share some of the film photos I took of some of the lovely folk who helped me out! (Celly and rose baking eel shaped pastries, my mum organising my lino printed letters for me and Rudi for just being cute and keeping me going!)

A few instal photographs from THE WORLD TO AN EEL IS A NET documented through rain and shine. I’ve loved sitting with the quilt, watching people wander in and spend some time reading the text and talking all things eels! Whilst I’ve never checked the weather forecast quite so much in my life, it’s been a joy to see my work in such a magical space, and it’s given me al sorts of ideas for future projects! The quilt will be up until 4pm on Sunday - then I will have to figure out how to dry this big ol’ thing out!!

Only two days to go! I never want to look at a machine againnnnn.

Excited to announce the opening of my first solo show in collaboration with @thefeministlectureprogram THE WORLD TO AN EEL IS A NET on from the 5th of September to the 8th and I’d love to see you there! It’s going to be held in the ruins of Nunhead chapel and I will be exhibiting a new quilt work alongside some soft sculptures and salt dough 🌞🌞 Wonderful poster by my very talented pal @ceddieart

Turning a 350 word story into a quilt, letter by letter. Chat gpt might not be coming for my job but it did make calculating the letter frequency a heck of a lot easier, which was my job, but not one my brain relished doing! If you are wondering, there were 186 ‘e’ characters and only one ‘k’. The printing and carving were made in collaboration with the wonderful @rose_bagenal. Here’s to computers doing the mundane work and not the creative, and friends with big studios and print making degrees! 🍾🍾

In merye old England- folk drowned in the floods cuz the monks drained their marshes

This is my second piece for @felt.collections, ‘Horses on the Horizon’. It’s a patchwork featuring embroidery and appliqué, hand dyed with madder, cochineal and turmeric 🐴

The first piece I made for @felt.collections - a cowboy figure reimagined from a children’s book illustration. The background text is a collage of texts from William Morris and Ali smith (a perfect combo in my mind!) It’s in show at @camilla.bloom if you’d like to see it in real life! 🌞
