Friends, My father Bogusław Janul passed away a week ago on June 23rd. Today would’ve been his 68th birthday. It feels appropriate to share this news and to celebrate his life on this day. My dad was battling a very aggressive metastatic cancer for over a year and a half, and though he fought like hell and gave it his absolute best, he was up against an impossible beast. It brings me comfort knowing that he’s not suffering anymore, and that he left from the comfort of his home surrounded by his closest family. I feel really honored that I got to be there, holding him till the very end, I told him how proud I was of him and how grateful I feel to share his resilience and grit. It was the most important moment of my life. I know many of you know that I was very intimately involved in his care, I want to thank everyone who supported me and my family during this time, friends who reached out and weren’t afraid to talk about the hard things, and friends who knew when it was best not to. I also want to thank everyone who donated to his care, i can’t express what a tremendous help this was, truly, thank you all. As I grieve, I think about his life, how hard he worked, his principals, what he meant to me, how I loved dancing with him, and man, I really hope we get to see each other again and have a little chat, perhaps about that yellow suit, it’s giving me a chuckle. Wszystkiego najlepszego z okazji urodzin Tato, kocham ciebie.

@carolineleanor painted me….??!!! When I was younger I told myself I’ll make a self portrait every year. A way of documenting how I see myself, how I’ve changed. It’s so special that during my self documenting hiatus I got to sit for this amazing artist and a friend. Thanks, Caroline, I love her.

Dear friends, I’m not used to sharing such vulnerable things on here, but as I have learned time and time again, life takes many turns, often not in the direction we would like. I’m sad to share that my dad, Bogusław has fallen very ill. I do not want to share the details of his disease here, but they are available in the gofundme page that me and my sister Kasia have set up to help with expenses. The link is in my bio.
