ONE Week until we record “FOUR,” a new 20-minute musical starring Morgan Kirner (Merrily We Roll Along) as Natalie, and featuring Aaron Michael Ray (The Ghost of John McCain, Come From Away) as The Piano Bar Man! FOUR follows Natalie as she waits for her fourth date with Jenn, a girl she fears may already be the love of her life. Natalie dreams of what their life might look like, as the sweet sounds of a New York piano bar roar around her. FOUR will be a fully produced 20 minute album, featuring piano, bass, drums, clarinet, flute, and a string quartet, all arranged by composer Eric Fegan. Book and lyrics are by Nathan Fosbinder. So thrilled to announce that my brilliant collaborator Eric Fegan and I will be recording a fancy, professional cast album of our short musical FOUR, starring the one and only Morgan Kirner! We’ve already got a streaming deal with Center Stage Records, but need your help to afford all our beautiful mixers, singers, and musicians before we get there! Eric Fegan (Music, Orchestrations) and Nathan Fosbinder (Concept, Book, Lyrics) met at the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing program at NYU Tisch and formed a strong bond over encyclopedic knowledge of musical theatre. FOUR is their first collaboration, and was originally written to be performed in a one night cabaret of short new musicals. After realizing they were, in fact, a great team, Fegan and Fosbinder have decided to gather their most talented friends and record a permenant cast album of the piece. This recording will include the entire piece, and be played by an orchestra of piano, strinig quartet, flute, clarinet, bass, and drums. FOUR is a 20 minute, mostly one woman musical about love, the struggles of queer dating, and the institution of New York piano bars. Natalie, played by Morgan Kirner (Merrily We Roll Along), waits for her fourth date with Jenn, a woman she thinks she may be falling in love with. Jenn is running late, which gives Natalie five songs worth to wait, spiral, and imagine a life after date four. FOUR is a comedy, an introspection, and a tour-de-force for a strong queer woman just figuring herself out.

Goodbye summer :) Ready for a bigger and better and brighter next chapter, but thankful for all the gay debauchery this season brought. I turned 30, went to a 7000 person queer chorus convention, saw dear friends shine in a new musical, survived another summer on Fire Island (where I also performed as JD Vance for reasons), got to go to some weddings, and started working on a new play that will be debuting next summer. Not too bad. Not too bad. ❤️
