A bit of WIP of a work which will be part of our first exhibition as a cohort from Slade MA/MFA postgraduate year 1. The exhibition opens at Split Gallery in Bethnal Green on Wednesday the 18th of December. Come see us, our work and let’s get a drink before the holiday season whisks everyone away. On a day of rain I had some good clean fun involving finishing a painting, a fantastic crit, talking about exciting happenings with Miami, attending a great group show at @sarahkravitzgallery and drinking three bottles of apple juice. Yes, I am very moisturised, especially my socks but this is December in London and it’s really not bad. Sending love 🧡

It’s a pre-Christmas miracle in the shape of some extraordinary artists all under one roof at the trailblazing @sarahkravitzgallery and all 2024 artists who had a chance to reside in the most amazing residency in the very heart of Soho this year. Learning to enjoy the process from a position of the frog. Thinking about gatekeeping. Partially because I don’t believe in the sincerity of those who claim to want to boost accessibility in art by eliminating a prerequisite knowledge or refusing to ‘teach’ specific things to avoid alienation. What has alienated me personally from art has never been jargon or theory but money, the lack of access to books museums artists openings references. The closed down libraries the cut funding for galleries the depleted art education rebranded as opening up against evil canon and status quo. Yo, it’s not really any easier to do stuff now. Yeah you can search anything and access anything through the internet but what if nobody ever gives you the initial nudge to go on a journey? Anyway it’s something worth discussing.
