Another set of test images for something that was never used. I changed the colour of her eyes for the first image and it’s amazing what a completely different look it gives her. I’ve included the unedited image and also a couple where I tried on hair which gave it a completely different feel again. This was put together in 2 days. I sculpted and moulded the pieces in a day and filled them to set overnight. All done on my dining room table. I made a big mess 😂 I ordered the wigs next day from Amazon and cut them on the head. It really was a last minute look! The bondo that circled over the head was particularly tricky to do because of the curvature of the forehead. I ended up cutting them into individual circles to make it more manageable. A silicone piece sculpted to the head would have worked better but I only met the model on the day and had very little time so I didn’t have many other options than flat bondo moulds. She was so fun to do and I can’t believe how patient my beautiful model @miss_swirl was. She sat through A LOT of tests for various things that day! 🤍

How I turned a very bizarrely painted foam arm into a decaying, camera ready one using my favourite cap plastic sheet technique again

One of my favourite things to do is colour matching hair with a hackle. Great for mixing synthetic bundles to create inexpensive hair pieces which match your model/actor perfectly. There is a more in depth video lower down on my feed if you fancy the full tutorial.

This is such an easy and fast technique to lay on curly hair. It works to fill in beards, receding hairlines, bald spots and even to lengthen short faded haircuts if you need them to look more period correct. Just cut the hair to the length you want it to end up. I like human hair because it doesn’t shine as much but the marley braiding hair is great for tighter Afro textures.

Here’s how I apply a gents wig using a partial bald cap to show “scalp” through the front hairline. This whole application and removal took 38 minutes so it’s fast too! You can do this entire application without the use of any hair pins directly on the scalp so it makes it really comfortable for your Actor. Any questions, just pop them in the comments 😊

Sticking on the airbrushing theme. This is my favourite way to do bruising at the moment. It’s so quick to do and really effective. These are the @ppipremiereproducts Glazing sprays. Waterbased but durable, they’ve been an absolute treat to work with

How to clean an airbrush and some troubleshooting tips at the end of the video. Save this for when you need it! You can always add a drop of clipper oil at the end inside where the trigger comes out for extra smoothness. This airbrush is a brand called Gocheer but it’s impossible to find. I haven’t found any other really good ones on line unfortunately. It’s cordless and is fantastic. If anyone finds an equivalent, please let me know! Any questions, pop them in the comments!

If you can’t find the perfect dividers for your drawers, here’s a simple way to make your own. We’ve used foam board from @hobbycrafthq and long wig pins to make a divider which can be taken out of the drawer in one go. We’ve doubled the useful space by adding 2 layers and everything is much easier to see now. Thanks for your help replicating so many of these @david_mcaneaney ❤️

This might be the most exciting video we’ve done yet. @tamaramae_mua came up with the idea of doing stubble with a flocking machine! @shea_caulfield also realised it would be great if your actor has a short buzz cut but is receding in places. This would be great to fill in those areas! This technique works much better with the shorter flocking. This 4mm flocking is almost a bit too long for this technique but the short 2mm stuff works amazingly! We hired the machine from someone in art department as the machines are quite expensive but if you can hire them for the shoot, it’s a great technique to be able to use. We have been airbrushing a matte sealer over the top of the whole thing. This helps with any shininess or stickiness

It was supposed to be a quick video but ended up being a waffle-y mess. 🙃 Have it anyway. A “longer than it needs to be“ video on when I would choose to use synthetic fibre brushes and when I would use natural bristles. Obviously if you want a vegan/cruelty free kit then always opt for the synthetic fibres
