Hello body posi fam💓

When I started this account in high school, my plan was to share body positive content, to share parts of my journey, and to connect with you all. I made friends and connected with people from across the country who were experiencing similar journeys - how amazing!

Now as I am about to turn 25, I decided it was time for a little evolving. This account will continue to focus on fitness and wellness, but I am going to start creating and sharing content regarding herbal education, crystal meditations, wellness such as yoga and breath work, and mental health content especially in the areas of trauma. Focusing on only one part of the body is not as beneficial as focusing on all the different parts because there are so many parts at play all at once. That’s why it’s important for me to talk about all different forms of wellness.

Thank you for sticking with me on this journey and I really look forward to the content I’ll be able to create and the people I’ll connect with.

Much love,
Brooke.

Evan and I climbed our first 4000 foot mountain and BOY OH BOY it was a challenge. I began the hike crying because I was terrified of safely reaching the top. Evan was sososo patient with me and before I knew it, we had already reached the top of the ridge. Seeing that first vista after strenuously climbing is the best reward. As soon as I saw the skyline, my worries quickly faded and we had an amazing rest of our hike. Thank you Franconia Notch for your beautiful wilderness, can’t wait to come back next year.

🤍 These days we are constantly looking at heart wrenching and anxiety ridden current events. Please make sure to take care of yourself.

Taking care of yourself can look like anything from a walk in your local park to taking yourself out to a nice budget friendly lunch at your favorite cafe. It can also look like choosing to step away from your technology for longer and longer periods of time.

However you choose to care for yourself is all about what works best for you. Please just make sure you’re taking time for you to fill your cup up.

Let’s get personal ⤵️

I’ve survived many different forms of abuse. I don’t typically open up much about my childhood and young adult years but they were filled with incredibly traumatic experiences, mainly with family members. When the abuse was so bad, I always felt isolated and alone and I had no idea how to self regulate. From a very young age, I found comfort in being around nature.

As I got older, I fell deeply in love with the environment. I started hiking and camping with my partner Evan. Luckily, in RI you are always a short distance from the shore. When I stand at the coast line, I feel this weight lift off my shoulders as if the ocean is swallowing my fears, my pain, my anxiety. When I look at the mountains and when I look at the beautiful stars on a dark night, I get that feeling again.

Here is your reminder that if you are going through something that is holding you down, spending some time in nature can really help put things back into perspective. That is not to say that whatever is bothering you is not valid. Nature allows us to take a moment and reflect on what it truly is that is at the forefront.

I am so proud of myself and Evan for making it work and getting to the gym. We decided in November that it was time to take our health seriously and we started working out together 2-3x a week. After 8 months, I’ve lost over 15 pounds and have grown so much more muscle than I’ve ever had.

Since we’ve become consistent, here’s what I’ve noticed:

• Great sleep!! I am falling asleep like a baby and waking up refreshed the next day
• Feeling better about my eating choices!! Before going to the gym, I was eating fast/processed foods constantly with no exercise to balance it. I feel good knowing I’m working out and it will help me maintain a healthy life, even if I do enjoy some takeout once a week.
• Feeling more emotionally balanced!! I struggle with a number of mental health disorders and not even medication has helped me find balance, not the same way working out has. I can go to the gym with something particularly painful in my mind and by the end of my workout, I feel like I got it out of my system plus I get a dopamine high after working out due to all the feel good chemicals being released in my brain.
• I feel closer to my partner!! It is so fun getting to hang out and joke around and push each other to be our best, it strengthens our bond and creates more memories in a new environment.

👋🏻Just a reminder that yes hi I’m still here! I have been hitting the gym 2-3x a week. Last week was my first time going 3x and while it was exhausting, I felt so good after. My view and relationship with the gym has completely changed. I once really thought that exercising wasn’t necessary because I had such a fear of facing my own deep rooted insecurities, but I’ve found that the gym helps me get strong, mentally and physically. Pushing myself past the point of where I thought I had to stop - now that is some powerful stuff.

💌thank you to everyone who has continued to follow me on this page, I love to have a community where I can share my experiences and learn from you all!! I intend on increasing my posts, just need more time for it… and that segways into the next part…

📸I am currently in the transition of changing my career and I am SO excited to share that I have officially started my own photography business, @brookevictoriaphotography! if you’d like to stay up to date with what I’m photographing and/or want to book a photoshoot, please follow and dm me :)

hello friends :) although its been months since I’ve been active, I am still here and working hard every day to feel healthier, stronger, and happier.

the next few months I’ve committed to more time being active at the gym and in nature. 🤎

I think this is so true! Going to the gym multiple times per week has helped me feel less stagnant and more awake. Although I’m not 100% thrilled to be there, I know that it pays off mentally and physically for me. I have started to grow a new appreciation for the gym and I never thought the day would come. #fitness #gym #gains #bodyposi
