A labour of love - restoring the casing for these tenement windows, which had cracked paint, new joinery on top of old and loads of holes and crevices. The shutters had already been restored and oiled, and the sash windows are new.

I stripped most of the old paint off, then filled and sanded, and filled, and sanded.. added primer, undercoat and satinwood. Inside I painted some pops of colour behind the shutters, inspired by the green leftover colour in slide 2 first of all. Then we chose colours to work with the other rooms, copying the idea of a suit jacket with a surprise colour lining inside. I remember thinking about this idea of a hidden colour a lot, after seeing a Paul Smith exhibition a while back.

Thankyou @ruthydoes for the opportunity to have some fun with the colours 🌞🌿🍧

Green and pale peachy pink for Sarah and Matt πŸͺ·πŸŒΏ - the green ended up almost mirroring all the fresh green in their garden just now. So glad that summer is finally coming 🌞

Space mural! πŸš€

My idea for this mural for Rory who is three, was that it would feel like he was in bed on the moon, looking at Earth. I painted part of the ceiling so that corner of the room would feel more immersive and to give the impression of a night sky. Rory's parents are both teachers and liked the idea of something that he could learn from and grow into, so I added the International Space Station, since it is a huge source of information and research. We also added a favourite dinosaur character playing football, because.. why not? What's nice about a mural is that you can have anything you like. Finally I added some stars, for counting before sleep. ✨ A really lovely project, I thoroughly enjoyed πŸ₯°

My favourite project from last year was this mural for Ada, who is 3. I designed it based on her three favourite (almost identical) monkey teddies, and her wee brother Rudi's elephant, and used a two tone idea of light and shade with the colours being brighter above the teal line, and darker below. All the colours were hand mixed from leftover tester pots I had. Very fun and rewarding πŸ₯°

Details from a recent job for Sam and family. It's unusual to see nice sharp details in a room this old which is often clogged with paint. I also used 'Dead Flat' from Farrow & Ball for the first time, I was really impressed with the quality and finish, I've felt like F&B emulsion is a bit of a compromise before.

Ceiling - Pure Brilliant White
Window and shutters - Farrow & Ball - Off White in Eggshell
Walls and remaining woodwork - Farrow & Ball - James White in Dead Flat

Bathroom in 'Divine Vengeance' for Penelope. Very impressed with the coverage and texture of Optiva Ceramic Super Matt from Tikkurila. It has only 3% sheen so very good for a hard wearing yet very flat texture. Bathroom fitting by @gsjprojects πŸ’«
