Palm St. Chinatown Neon Mural We restored the historic “Chong’s Candies” sign, originally built in 1954 and made the SLO Chinatown Seal with neon dragon along with the border tube new. If you zoom in on either side of the Chong’s sign you can see watermark Chinese writing meaning “Tang People Street” symbolizing the people who originally found their roots here from China. This was a cool one.

We just cleaned this clock up with personalized neon, new clock motor that runs the perimeter stripe effect, old style hardware and tube stands.

The branches are starting to get fit to the trees. We are building 3 trees that are each 35’ tall.

Here’s the bottom half of one of our aluminum trees on the rotisserie.

After rolling 8’ sheets of 1/8” thick aluminum in the slip roll, we then have a sophisticated technique to shape them into a tree trunk shape. After building 16’ lengths of the shaped aluminum, Nico has been fitting them to the framework.

We hand shaped the spoon from 1/8” thick aluminum.

This project required public art a part of it permit process. These are stainless steel tree designs cut in 1/8” thick stainless steel and finished with a directional burnish. The center map is water jet cut 1/8” Corten steel.
