This year saw the release of @neonlies_ new album “Demons” for which I was invited to design the cover once again. We had a photo, we had a concept, some lyrics, coffee, cigarettes, a beer here and there and suddenly the cover just appeared in front of us in its black and white beauty, gritty noisy, odlschool, punk and reminiscent of electric buzzing. Earlier this year (I’ve been “lazy” with documenting work due to being overworked) Makadam was published — it’s a photo book of portraits (in pairs!) by the legendary croatian photographer Ivan Posavec @ivanposavec.fotografija who concieved it as an archive of confronted portraits. The name (Gravel Road) suggested a raw materialization of the book — the cover features an embossed 35mm film frame, the spine is silkscreened fabric, while the text on the interior is set on a dark background, contrasting the whiteness of the rest of the book. An important feature of these photos is the black frame surrounding the image — a confirmation and proof that the photo hasn’t been cut/edited and that it had been developed from film as well.
