In the last decade, we have come refer to models as ‘talent’, a term usually reserved for actors, athletes, artists and musicians. In fact, in an industry where a creative director’s status is increasingly in flux, the power of the model is only getting stronger.
One person who understands this better than anyone is Piergiorgio del Moro of DMCASTING. A kingmaker of sorts, throughout his 20 plus year career, Piergiorgio has been responsible for discovering and nurturing some of the most celebrated talents the industry has seen.
As part of an all encompassing portfolio of the most relevant models working today, Carlijn Jacobs teams up with make-up artist Yadim on a series of arresting before and afters.
@bellahadid of course, said ‘Si’ for PG.

@gigihadid stars on the cover of the @piergiorgio portfolio.
What does it mean to be a model now? No longer hired purely on the basis of their looks, in this era of endless content and storytelling needs, the power of a model lies in her voice, her views, her tastes, her style and what she represents.
Her following and lineage can of course help, too.
One person who understands this better than anyone is @piergiorgio, of @dmcasting, who for System beauty issue 3, has curated a portfolio of the most relevant models working today.
All the girls said ‘Si’ for PG!
System beauty issue no. 3 features a separate printed portfolio by @juergentellerstudio, cast by @piergiorgio, with contributions from @timblanks and @donatella_versace.
The issue is available to purchase now through the link in our bio.

‘I had the blessing of Martin Margiela – and psychologically I felt I was doing the right thing for the House.’
This year marks a decade of @jgalliano helming the house of @maisonmargiela.
It’s also a year where Galliano has enjoyed unprecedented highs, beginning with an Artisanal show in Paris in January that marked a return to his signature theatricality and prompted a tidal wave of think pieces and social media adulation.
The impact of the show has reverberated throughout the year, followed by the release of Kevin MacDonald’s documentary “High & Low: John Galliano” and then high profile red carpet collaborations with @kimkardashian and @zendaya for the Met Gala.
Galliano seems more at ease than he’s ever been creatively and personally, and it is at this point where he sat down with @anderschristianmadsen , journalist and collaborator of Maison Margiela, to speak at length about his creative process.
Together, they delve into the aftermath of that groundbreaking show, why Galliano feels free to lean into his personal and design legacy and how at Margiela, Galliano has managed to make time to foster the act of creation.

Since 2005 Telfar Clemens been designing clothes framed around the rallying cry of “It’s not for you - it’s for everybody.”
His now ubiquitous shopping bag birthed in 2014 was a take on the Bloomingdale’s shopper and was affordably priced, just as luxury fashion was going in the opposite direction. “Then luxury fashion came for us so we’re coming for them.”
Is @telfarglobal still for everyone when The Carry made out of real leather occupies a newly rarified space?
System spoke to Clemens at the launch of The Carry at Selfridges, about how the evolution of his bag reflects his changing relationship with luxury fashion.

@thomasdekluyver and @zoeghertner unveil the intracacies and process behind their new book, already past and already again there.
With the freedom to capture and create what they wanted, the result is a free-flowing series of arresting images that serve a sharp contrast of the rawness of human skin with different natural textures and materials. Designed by @jonnylu, it is unbound, and printed on a mixture of coated and uncoated paper stock, to echo the attention to texture in the project.
