The Prince and Princess of Wales have announced they will not be attending King Charles's annual Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace this year.
In a surprising break from tradition, sources have told how Prince William and Catherine have already travelled to Norfolk with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to spend their winter break at Anmer Hall.
Reports suggest they were never expected to attend the private lunch this year, which is a cherished tradition within the family. The event brings together the wider royal family in a private gathering which sees senior members like the King and Queen celebrating Christmas with extended family like cousins, nieces and nephews.
Also notably absent this year will also be Prince Andrew. It is believed Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, persuaded her ex-husband to skip the event, aiming to avoid potential embarrassment following the Duke’s recent involvement in a ‘Chinese spy’ scandal.

When it comes to weddings, 2024 was nothing short of monumental for the social set, with gilt-edged invitations gracing the doorsteps of the elite across Britain.
Undoubtedly, the most covetable invitation of the year was to the wedding of Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, and Olivia Henson. After nearly three years of dating, the couple were married in June at Chester Cathedral. Across the globe, the Ambani wedding saw A-lister parties, cruises across Italy and a $600 million wedding dress, whilst in Norway Princess Martha Louise made it official with her controversial partner, Durek Verrett.
Looking ahead, 2025 promises its own share of glittering nuptials. High-profile unions such as Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson and Olivia Lewis, Cameron Fuller and Phoebe Dynevor, and William James Lindesay-Bethune, Viscount of Garnock, with Lady Violet Manners could all be on the cards for the coming year. So which will be the greatest of them all?

Have you heard the fascinating story of Aline Griffith, Countess of Romanones?
The Spanish aristocrat led a life Ian Fleming would write about. An American-born mother of three, she worked as a secret agent for the CIA during the Cold War, even uncovering KGB moles with the help of the Duchess of Windsor.
Griffith was renowned for hosting extravagant parties at Pascualete, her husband’s family estate in Spain. Her guest lists included the likes of Jackie Kennedy, Baron Guy de Rothschild, Salvador Dalí, Audrey Hepburn, and Grace Kelly. These glamorous gatherings provided the perfect cover for her undercover work—she skillfully collected intelligence and gossip while entertaining the world’s elite.
Trained at a secret spy school in the 1940s, Griffith married Luis Figueroa y Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno, Count of Quintanilla, and embraced a life that combined playing hostess with covert operations: once recruiting Wallis Simpson to interrogate moles over dinner. With her unique blend of charm, wit, and daring, she was the ultimate high-society double agent—a true tale of elegant espionage.

Chanel has announced @matthieu_blazy as its new Artistic Director of Fashion Activities, ending months of detective-like investigation. The famed French house shared the news last night, with Blazy following in the footsteps of Virgine Viard, the late Karl Lagerfeld’s successor, who spent five years in the house’s pivotal position, after she announced her shock departure in June of this year.
It is not yet known what Blazy's Chanel will look like, with many wondering if it could include the ultra-cool conceptions he dreamed up during his three years as Creative Director at Bottega Veneta.
In the meantime we wait with bated breath, and - if you somehow aren’t clued up on the fascinating lore of what has made @chanelofficial, the eponymous house first founded by Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel over 100 years ago, the ultimate arbiter of classic French-chic - Tatler has put together a timeline of its greatest hits to fill you in.

As the iconic Feathers Ball celebrates its 70th anniversary, never-before-seen photographs have emerged of some very youthful but familiar faces… and Tatler has the exclusive.
In the above images, a casual-looking one-day prime minister, Lord Cameron, is seen pouting the house down at the Hammersmith Palais with a ruffle-necked Laura Stanley at the Feathers Ball in 1981; meanwhile, in 1988, Toby Russell nonchalantly eats a handful of candy floss.
All snapped by Tatler photographer Dafydd Jones, these now-legendary images of this societal rite of passage document the hormone-fuelled profiles of soon-to-become social power players before they hit the big time.
For decades, the annual dance for high society public schoolers has been held everywhere from the Lyceum Ballroom to the Hammersmith Palais. Now, Tatler’s Feature Editor @annabel_sampson goes back to the Palais, revealing an inside glimpse into what attending the legendary night was really like, as she reflects on her first—and last—Feathers Ball in 2004.
Revisit her reflections on that night at the link in our bio.

How does Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new Netflix documentary Polo shed light on the high society world—and what did it miss about the sport’s true aristocratic heart?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex inked a $100m deal with Netflix in 2020 to produce, in their words, ‘content that informs but also gives hope’ using ‘powerful storytelling’ through a ‘truthful and relatable lens.’ Their latest programme, which premiered on the streaming platform on Tuesday, offers a glimpse into the elite world of the sport–how very hopeful.
While the series has drawn mixed reviews, we at Tatler take a look into a side of polo the couple missed: the British aristocratic family at its very core, the Cowdrays. Among their ranks is The Hon Peregrine ‘Perry’ Pearson, who has been publicly dating Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.

Is the Princess of Wales set to be TIME's Person Of The Year?
Catherine has made the shortlist for the magazine’s annual award, which since 1927 has crowned the ‘person, group, or concept’ that made the most impact (for good or for ill) on society that year. Joining the royal on the 2024 shortlist are the likes of Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Yulia Navalnaya, and if she were to be crowned Person Of The Year, Catherine would follow in the footsteps of Taylor Swift, who won in 2023.
The inclusion on the list is tied to her role in igniting a global conversation about ‘privacy and health for public figures.’ In January 2024, Kensington Palace announced she would undergo abdominal surgery, triggering a storm of speculation and conspiracy theories. Two months later, she revealed her cancer diagnosis and temporarily stepped back from royal duties to focus on chemotherapy. Since then, she has completed her treatment and gradually resumed her public engagements, with last Friday’s Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey standing as a poignant milestone in her journey of recovery.
Who do you think will win?
