Those days when the writing flows are to be celebrated and cherished. I’m not a big idea generator, that’s why I’ve worked on the same 5 - 6 scripts for the last 7 years. But I am so excited to share that I have a brand new idea that I just came up with over Thanksgiving and have been developing since. I put “pen to paper” this morning and flowed out the first act since I woke up at 5am this morning. In fairness, I actually wrote a whole draft zero with the original concpet, realized it doesn’t work, went back to conceptualizing and now working on my actual first draft. All I can say right now is that it is about a woman awakening to her suppressed hunger. That much I am sure.

Hope this message finds you well as we approach the end of the year! I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the support and encouragement this community has given me on this journey to bring Good Chance to the screen. This project has always been about more than just making a film; it’s about amplifying stories that reflect our shared humanity.

In today’s world, as we see divisions grow deeper, Good Chance is a reminder of what unites us. The film tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a trans teen girl and an older Asian woman—two people who, despite their differences, discover the love and connection they’ve been missing. It’s about finding family in unexpected places and seeing beyond labels, race, and identities to the heart of what makes us human.

This is why I’m reaching out now.

As the year draws to a close, if you’re considering making CHARITABLE DONATIONS to offset taxes, I wanted to share this meaningful opportunity to do so. Good Chance is fiscally sponsored by Breaking Through The Lens, allowing us to offer full US tax deductions on all contributions. Your support not only helps bring this important story to the screen but also makes a direct impact by promoting empathy, resilience, and inclusivity.

If there’s ever been a time to support stories that challenge divisive narratives, it’s now. Your contribution could help us fill a gap in the stories that are told—stories that reflect the lives of people who are too often overlooked.

Whether it’s $10, $100, $1,000, or whatever amount feels right for you, every donation helps us get closer to sharing this story with the world. And if you’re looking for a way to make a difference while benefiting from a tax write-off, this is a perfect opportunity.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being a part of this journey—whether through introductions, advice, or simply believing in the power of storytelling. I look forward to updating you on our progress and celebrating this film together!

It was such a joy and privilege to get to work on @nathan.t.breton’s #Firelight feature film. When Nathan asked me to 1st AD this pick up shoot, I said yes without hesitation (even though I’d never AD’d before😬). Watching Nathan and @delaceyann collaborate on set was truly enlightening and inspiring. Over the years, we’ve worked together as a creative collective, honing our craft through @filmmakinglabstudios techniques to deeply embody each other’s characters, journeys, feelings and actions. I loved getting to see it all come together on set as they birthed this film into reality. And of course, collaborating with fellow JSFL’rs @nikhilnyc, @nadavkurtz, and @makarovyura was a highlight! When can we do this again?

I’ve been feeling so helpless lately. Like my vote didn’t matter. It feels like our voices were lost in the noise.
Yet, even in my disappointment, there’s a part of me that feels more galvanized than ever. I’ve always been passionate about telling the story of Good Chance, but today, I know that I need to tell this story.

When I moved to Nevada during the height of the pandemic, I was afraid to go out grocery shopping. Every time I stepped outside, I couldn’t shake the fear that someone might see nothing more than the color of my skin and decide to kick me in the face—because that was happening all across the country in December 2020. The rise in anti-Asian hate was being fueled by the stories people were absorbing from their TVs.

I think there has been a huge gaping hole left by the lack of narratives about underrepresented people. And as a result, people who don't know us... just... literally don't know us. And then that hole was filled with narratives that the president-elect filled. And filled and filled and filled with divisive stories—stories that paint immigrants, people of color, LGBTQ+ folks, anyone who doesn’t fit a narrow mold, as “other.” It’s time for us to reclaim that space, to fill that gap with stories of our own.

Good Chance is about a trans teen girl who helps an undocumented Asian woman escape deportation and form an unlikely friendship but it's really about two people who learn to look past cultural, generational, class, and gender identity differences to find what we truly need in one another. This film may be just one grain of sand in this vast effort to change the narratives, but it’s a story told from my heart. It’s about our shared humanity.

Today, I am bravely & humbly asking my community for help. I am just beginning this fundraising journey, and with the support of Breaking Through The Lens as a fiscal sponsor, I can offer a tax-deduction for all donations made to the project. If you’re looking for a way to make a difference, especially at a time when it feels like so much is out of our control, I would be incredibly grateful for your support. Whether it’s $10 or $1000 or simply sharing this post—it all matters.

I wanted to check in and see how you’re feeling and hope you’re taking care of yourself today. I’ve been vacillating between complete numbness / avoidance and melting into a puddle.

But then I remember that I’m not alone and that I am in community with people who remind me of the strength we have when we come together.

As filmmakers and storytellers, we are uniquely poised to create the kind of change we wish to see. Through our films, we can amplify voices, share diverse perspectives, and make waves in ways only storytelling can. Let’s continue to use our craft to bridge divides, to tell the stories that matter, and inspire empathy, action, and connection. This is our moment to stand for something, to use our stories to shine a light on truths that need to be seen and voices that need to be heard.

Today, let’s reach out to one another, hold space for each other’s stories, and remind ourselves that storytelling isn’t just art—it’s impact.

Mark and I became U.S. citizens last year, and today, we’re voting in our first American election. We live in Nevada and chose to vote in person, not only because we wanted this sticker, but to make sure our vote was counted. If you haven’t yet voted, please, take this opportunity today and elect Kamala as our first female president.

ASSESS WHAT IS SO

What did you do this year? Scroll through your calendar and/social media and write down any important events, fun gatherings, significant meetings, projects worked on, etc.

Starting tomorrow, we have 60 days until the end of the year. Instead of a what am I going to accomplish by the end of year push, I’m going to doing my yearly life review. Asking myself a few questions each day to see where I’m at and where I want to go. I don’t just mean in film, but in life. I had the idea to share the process here. So that we can do it together and be ready to take on the new year with our full selves and spirits in alignment. I’d love for you to join me and share anything you feel comfortable sharing in the comments and I’ll do the same!
