Closing out the year with some callbacks and early designs from the beginnings of @primerrebeldedeamerica We’ll be posted up today at the local Ridgewood staple “El Molcajete” collecting toys with @nycmigrantsolidarity for our younger relatives this Holiday season. Incredibly grateful for nearly a decade at Awake. For the people I’ve met, the places I’ve been, and the things I’ve created. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this chapter—to the community, the city that raised me, and my friends and family for always holding me up. Love. Always.

Proud to finally put this project out into the world. It’s a reflection of where I’ve been, what I’ve felt, and the cultures that raised me—through the streets of this city and back to my motherlands in Colombia y Ecuador. Appreciation to my family at Dr. Martens for making this journey what it was—collaborative, meaningful, and raw. Big love to my brother Roy [@corrduroy] for leading this project with me from start to finish. Respect to @hellotones and his nights at @mi_sabor_cafe for keeping Cumbia alive and in focus, and to everyone who pulled up, danced, and made this moment unforgettable. This one’s close to the heart.

Primer Rebelde De America / 2019-2024 / 5 Years When I started Primer Rebelde de America it was built upon the base of being a project of passion and resistance. A way for me to express all the thoughts, ideas and feelings I’ve had since I was a child. A pathway to spread a message that would help further advance the lives of people who look like me and love like me. Created to co-exist with communities that hold me up, I always knew and still know that the mission is greater than the material goods. That the true objective lies within uplifting those who this work is for. For me, there is no greater privilege than being able to create this way and to also be supported by everyone who does. My gratitude is endless and words can’t describe the beauty that this work has brought into my life. Whether it be in the heart of my city, the neighborhood that raised me or anywhere else in the world. No matter where I go or who I’m beside, the words, thoughts, prayers and love of all those who have crossed my path and mine with theirs, lies forever in my heart. Thank you to everyone who has come along this way. My heart belongs to you.
