Today @stephen_kinnock and I announce the biggest funding for hospices in a generation: £100 million for improving buildings, kit and technology £26 million grant for children and young people’s hospices An early Christmas present for hospices that do a wonderful job for families.

The independent Commission on Human Medicines has found that prescribing puberty blockers to under 18s is an “unacceptable safety risk.”   As a result, the government is introducing an indefinite ban.

We will cut waiting times and build an NHS fit for the future so it’s there when you need it. That means ending hospital backlogs to meet the NHS standard of 92% of patients waiting no longer than 18 weeks for elective treatment.

Today @keirstarmer launched our Plan for Change. Ambitious, achievable milestones from cutting NHS waiting times from 18 months to 18 weeks through to building 1.5 million new homes. We’ve hit the ground running. We’re getting on with the job. We’ll deliver the change we promised.

🧔🏻‍♂️🧔🏻👨🏾This morning it was my pleasure to join my boss, Health Secretary @wesstreeting, at our Men’s Health Summit, where he confirmed the Government’s plans for a Men’s Health Strategy. 🤝 The event was held in partnership with @movemberuk and their ambassadors Kola Bokinni and Ugo Monye and hosted by the @premierleague at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. ⚽️ We discussed mental health, suicide, the importance of male role models, masculinity, prostate cancer, addiction, as well as looking at some of the great work being done already on men’s health, wellbeing and welfare. 🗣️ I’m looking forward to working with groups and organisations to get this strategy right in the months ahead.

A full-body scanner that is 40 times more sensitive and 10 times faster than existing machines, is now in operation at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. @petekylemp and @wesstreeting spoke to staff about how the scanner is speeding up diagnoses and treatments for patients
