Grateful for my experience at the
@americanfilminstitute , the support of the faculty and my peers (whom I look forward to working with for a loooong time to come), the support of my family, partner, and friends as I went thru this process.
If you had asked me a few years back if I thought film school was a good idea I probably would have said no way. But one stir-crazy night in New York I snuck out of my pre-gig quarantine, wandering the city aimlessly. I found myself walking past NYU totally by accident, and later that night i stumbled upon a film shoot.
I’d been really lucky up to that point in my career. I’d worked with incredible artists, coupled with the best producers and technicians in the live event world. It was all really amazing. But i was being reminded that my passion really lived with narrative films.
AFI was the only program that made sense for me because it’s so focused. I was able to direct a lot. I really feel like I learned a ton, both from the program and from my fellows.
I’m so grateful for this experience and I can’t wait for what’s to come.
